FAQ – Steam Cleaners
Tank cap cannot be opened?

Cause:
  • The boiler is still under pressure.
Remedy:
  • The pressure must be released:
  • First switch off the heater, then switch on steam feed (on max), operate the switch on the handle until the cap can be opened.
  • If the tank cap still cannot be opened, please contact your KÄRCHER dealer for assistance.

Too much water instead of steam?

Cause:
  • Water tank overfilled.
  • Unit has not yet reached full temperature.
  • Controller is not set to steam mode.
Remedy:
  • Water tank must not be more than 3/4 full.
  • Wait until unit has reached operating temperature.
  • Set the controller to steam mode.

No steam?

Cause:
  • Heater is not switched on.
  • Steam feed not switched on.
  • Scale build-up in unit.
Remedy:
  • Switch on the heater.
  • Switch on steam feed.
  • Descale unit with RM 511

Steam cleaner requires too long to heat up?

Cause:
  • Scale build-up in unit.
Remedy:
  • Descale unit with RM 511.

Steam cleaner does not heat at all?

Cause:
  • Power cord not plugged in properly or mains fuse has tripped.
  • Water tank is empty.
Remedy:
  • Check power cord and mains fuse.
  • Fill water tank (max. 3/4).

Steam cleaner lets off steam?

Cause:
  • Steam flows through relief valve, all downstream systems fail.
Remedy:
  • This problem can only be remedied by customer service.
